Self Publishing Announcement

Hey there friends and fictional folk!

If you’ve seen my latest TikTok video, you know that I’ve decided to shift my focus away from traditionally publishing and toward self publishing for my books. As I said in the video, this is not a decision I’ve made lightly, but given the current state of traditional publishing, it is my best option if I want to make a living off of my writing.

Midsummer Site Cleaning

If you’re a long time reader of this blog, of which there don’t seem to be many, you’ll notice that I’ve deleted quite a few posts.

I’ve done this because I feel that having a full novel posted here, even if its a rough draft writing project, may be hurting my chances of getting published.

I cannot guarantee that I will be posting more here as I have many responsibilities including a full time job and a surprisingly flourishing TikTok account. I will, however, try and post what updates I can here, including once I have my Patreon all set up and ready to go.

To those of you that still read this website, thank you and sorry for not posting more.

Hiatus Notice

Hey friends and fictional folk. Sadly, this will not be a new chapter of The Mythic Naga. I will, unfortunately, have to take a break from intense writing for a while. For the past week and a half, I have been experiencing near constant pain in my arms, and both my doctor and I suspect that I might have developed carpal tunnel. While we are still waiting for an official diagnosis, it would be best for now if I stop/slow my writing for the time being. I’m so sorry to leave you on a cliffhanger like that, but I’ll do my best to recover quickly and get back to writing. Thank you all for understanding.

Update (End of June)

Hey there friends and fictional folk. I’m so sorry that there’s no new issue of The Mythic Naga this week. I know I left you guys on a cliffhanger, but between the DFW Writer’s Conference and now my backup laptop having keyboard issues, I have absolutely no time to crank out anything well written in time.

Honestly, it is ridiculous how much the month of June just wants to screw me over in terms of computers. I swear, I have suddenly become Newt Pulsifer from Good Omens. If you guys haven’t read that book or seen the Amazon Prime miniseries, you need to!

Anyway, with luck this computer curse does not continue for too long, but it has brought to my attention that my updating schedule needs an update itself. So starting next Tuesday, The Mythic Naga will update every other week. This will give me some room to breathe in case of emergency and will allow me time to work on my novels. Sorry again to all of you for any inconvenience and thank you for supporting my work!

Avengers: Endgame

I have been excited for this movie for months, and so it seems has the rest of the world. This 3 hour and 2 minutes movie is a milestone. It’s the film equivalent of an event comic (before event comics got watered down into cash grabs). It’s the end of the first era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the first time anything of this scale has been accomplished in history. If for no other reason than to say you were a part of this moment in history, go see it. It is worth your time and money.

If you would like more details, as well as my personal thoughts and opinions on the movie, the read on true believers.

Review: Missing Link

This is going to be a short one since I’m busy today, but I felt that I should recommend to all you that you should all go see Missing Link. I know you’re probably saving money for Avengers: Endgame, believe me I am too. However, Laika has once again made a really good claymation movie and you should support.

I know all the trailers make it look like a silly, throwaway movie, but it’s surprisingly poignant. It actually shocked me with its open critique of elitism, particularly as it relates to both imperialism/colonialism and isolationism. Yes, I’m serious. Go watch it. Even if its just to see Laika show off what they’re animation chops.

Trivia: Strange Origins

This is gonna be a bit of a short one since I’m working a bit on taxes, but sometimes in life we run into some strange connections and origins. Something you think is completely original actually has some fascinating inspiration behind it. One series I greatly enjoy is Boku No Hero Academia and I just found something really cool.

Trivia: The Tinderbox

Alright, haven’t done any fairy tale trivia yet. This is a pretty obscure tale from the great Hans Christian Anderson. While he’s known for classics like The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling, he also has some really weird ones. This is definitely a questionable one.

Getting Back To Business

Holy cow, it has been too long!

Hey everyone, the few of you who remember this site exists. Sorry I’ve not updated or done much of anything on here in two years. I have been super busy finishing up college and getting my life together.

But now, I’m graduated, I’ve got a place to live, I have a job (two technically, not counting my writing), and my schedule is manageable! Now I’m back and ready to really start making this site a place for me to conduct my writing. As such, I have a few announcements:
