Don your Mechanic’s jackets and twist the World Illusion. It’s time for some steampunk, science-fantasy action!
Sorry it’s been so long! My spring semesters are always fuller than my fall or January ones. Especially towards the end.
Anyway, as a reward for everyone being so patient, I’ve decided to release a story set within the same universe as the previous one and with the same characters. That’s right! We’re returning to the world of the Modern Monster Hunters! This time we get to see more of the cultures of this world and the prejudices that arise from living in a world where some monsters can look and speak like humans.
Check out the first Modern Monster Hunter story here: Killing the Dead
As always, please leave constructive commentary, talk about what you like in the comments section, and spread this to all your friends and social media pals! Hopefully I’ll be a bit more active over the summer and as a special treat, I’ll put up some trivia tomorrow. Thank you all and I hope you enjoy the story!
As promised, another short story! Sorry its so late, I’ve had a lot on my brain lately. Anyway, this story is actually the first in a series of short stories taking place in an alternate reality. On this alternate Earth, life experienced an explosion of diverse adaptations soon after the last Ice Age. The cause of this has never been found, but the result is that the monsters of mythology on our world have become real on this alternate Earth. The catch? All the monsters are “scientifically plausible,” meaning there is no magic.
As a result of these monsters, humanity has had a very different history. To combat these creatures we developed The Hunters, elite fighters for hire whose sole purpose is to find and kill any monster threatening a human settlement.
Now, fair warning, even though these aren’t expressly adult science fantasy pieces they do mention or bring up topics or parts of life that one might usually find in Young Adult novels aimed at the older end of the demographic. So, if you are uncomfortable with blood, mature moral quandaries, or mentions of certain natural bodily functions, this series may not be for you.
With that warning out of the way, I hope you enjoy this story! Please comment your reactions or critiques below and subscribe if you have not done so! Now, on with the story!
Ok, so this post is gonna be a bit weird. See, this is technically an assignment where I could describe how a group of fictional or non-fictional people came together and became friends. However, I already kind of had a story written around this very idea, but it only involved two of the main cast for one of my books. So I’ll be adding some to it.
I don’t expect you guys to understand everything going on in this story, since I haven’t published any of the books in this series. Most of what you need to know is that this story universe takes place in the afterlife and follows a group of young grim reapers as they battle evil and learn how to do their job. This is a quick anecdote of how they became the group of four that we find in the second book. Yes, the second book. The first focuses on only one of them.
Without further ado here is how the young reapers met. I hope you enjoy!
